Objectives

The term humanoid is commonly associated with the idea of robots whose physical appearance is similar to that of the human body. Beyond a physical resemblance, humanoid robots should also resemble humans in their ways of acting in the world and in particular in their way of interacting with other humans. Reaching this goal involves both the development of physical humanoid heads as well as the development of algorithms aiming for human-like perceptive, cognitive and social capabilities. The main objective of this workshop is to bring together researchers working on the various areas related to the development of such humanoid robot heads. Topics addressed in the workshop include:

  • Design and control of human-like heads
  • Active vision systems for humanoid robots
  • Perceptual algorithms and models of attention
  • Perception of humans, including articulated body tracking
  • Interpretation of human actions and behaviour
  • Natural multimodal human-humanoid interfaces
  • Models of cognition and cognitive development
